APRIL /MAY 2020

Recent studies confirm that arts and culture – especially museum visits! –  can help us unwind and de-stress, distracting us from the sometimes overwhelming flow of information related to Covid-19.

Although the quarantine limits the opportunities for museums to reach their audiences, several institutions are showing great creativity and resilience by harnessing the power of social media.

WHAT'S ON NOW

VOYAGE, VOYAGES

22 January to 4 May 2020

Borders, migration, mass tourism… these days, questions about travel, exile and getting from one place to another are recurring themes in art. The exhibition, Voyage Voyages invites us to feel the immense creativity that finds a natural home at the Mucem and which, since it opened, has favored a dialogue between cultures.

Discover a most remarkable pair: The bringing together of the two Henri Matisse tapestries, Polynésie le ciel and Polynésie la mer. They have never been exhibited together before!

The paintings by Wassily Kandinsky (Arabische Stadt), Paul Klee (Before the Gates of Kairouan) and Henri Matisse (The Bay of Tangier) show the tremendous inspiration that travel in North Africa gave to these artists, thus enriching their visual vocabulary.
Discover also the impressive and theatrical work of the Japanese artist, Chiharu Shiota (Accumulation - Searching for the Destination).
