We remind you that the Mucem is open every day from 10am to 8pm , except Tuesdays . These summer hours will continue through Sunday 4 October.
Access is more limited, visits have been redesigned to maintain safe distances and appropriate barriers, the wearing of  masks is compulsory .

MODEL CLOTHING

The exhibition Model Clothing  is opened at Fort St. John.
From tanks to tracksuits,  overalls to  kilts and espadrilles, the "Clothes Models" exhibition proposes to follow the course of 5 items which have travelled through time and fashion trends.

Above is the record jacket of one of the first 78 rpm  records produced by the Middle Eastern  label, Baidaphone, in 1907. It introduces Farjallah Baida (1880-1933), a Lebanese singer who performs "Ya Ghazali  Kayf Ani Abaadouk" (Oh gazelle, how did they keep you away from me ?), a very popular poem from the 19th century, in which he improvises in literary Arabic.

At the crossroads of history and myth, "Pharaoh superstars" explores the place occupied by the figure of Pharaoh in our imagination.The exhibition  was due to open on April 28 and  has been postponed until June 2022. It is expected to travel later to Québec at the Musée de la civilisation and to Lisbon at the Calouste-Gulbenkiang museum

THE CALOUSTE-GULBENKIAN MUSEUM IN LISBON 

Lisbon, Portugal

The galleries display nearly a thousand pieces divided into groups corresponding to Egyptian, Greco-Roman, Mesopotamian, Armenian, the Islamic Orient, and, the Far East.  In the galleries displaying Western art,  one can enjoy sculpture, the art of the book, painting, eighteenth-century French decorative arts, and works by René Lalique.

BETWEEN US
WORLD FEDERATION OF FRIENDS OF MUSEUMS

 

The World Federation has asked the French Federation of Friends of Museums (FFSAM) and the Amis du Mucem to host the General Assembly . Each year, the World Federation’s annual General Assembly meeting  takes place in a city in one of the member countries. In 2021, for the first time, It will be held  in Marseille.  It was last held in France, in Paris, in 2008
The Assembly will bring together around a hundred participants: members of the World Federation, Presidents and Ambassadors of national delegations and Young Friends (18-35 year-olds) 
The event will take place from Thursday the 27th May to Sunday the 30th May 2021 and includes World Federation institutional meetings, panel discussions on current topics, unique cultural excursions and receptions at iconic heritage sites.
